How we make power: A 3.4-liter V6 powerhead and deep-breathing double overhead cam/four-valve architecture is tuned to wind up to 6800 rpm. Compression ratio is boosted to 11:1. A heavy dose of dense, cool air is ducted directly to the intake.
An evolved Mercury Racing Super Speed Master (IV SSM) outboard gearcase is direct-drive with no neutral or reverse shifting.
The four-stroke Mercury Racing 200 APX reduces exhaust emissions by 90 percent compared to a two-stroke racing outboard of similar performance. Unlike those two-stroke motors, the 200 APX will require very little maintenance between races, and is designed to perform on 91-octane (98 RON w/ E10 max) pump fuel.
